Ah, Warner Robins.

Georgia's "International City," and Macon's suburb neighbor in Houston County. If you live in Warner Robins, or perhaps you're visiting the area, or staying in Warner Robins to explore Macon, you might be looking for some things to do while you're there.
While Warner Robins doesn't have a long list of entertainment options, this city of 75,000 people about 25 minutes from Macon has some gems to check out, if you know where to look for them. And we do, so we've saved you the work! Here is a list of 8 things to do in Warner Robins, GA.

One thing you should know about Warner Robins: It is big on the Air Force and aviation. Warner Robins was named after Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins, the Air Force's "father of logistics." Warner Robins was built around the Robins Air Force Base. It's also home to the Museum of Aviation, the US Air Force's second-biggest aerospace museum and the "fourth most visited museum in the Department of Defense", according to the Museum of Aviation website https://www.museumofaviation.org

The Museum of Aviation is 51 acres and 5 different buildings of airplane, aviation, astronaut, and history fans' paradise, with fighter jets, bomber planes, drones, spacecraft, helicopters, spy planes and other aircraft, numbering at 93 at the time of this article. It is a great place to go for both kids and adults. They also have a virtual reality simulator ride that allows people to see what it's like to be an astronaut on the exterior of the International Space Station.

For kids, they offer birthday parties, summer STEM camps "Science with Santa," and other events aimed towards kids. The Museum of Aviation also houses the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame, which we could have easily made an additional item on this list. The GAHF "recognizes aviation pioneers and contributors associated with the state of Georgia," and is a "Who's Who" of aviators who are either from Georgia, or made their contribution in Georgia.

The Museum of Aviation is on the air force base, which is technically it's own zip code and territory. The Museum of Aviation is located at 1942 Heritage Blvd, Robins AFB, GA 31098.

Rigby's Entertainment Complex

Rigby's takes the typical idea of an "entertainment center" and turned it into an entertainment complex. With a full roller skating (and roller blading) rink, two-story laser tag arena that Rigby's claims is the "5th largest in the nation," go-kart track with 30 go karts, bowling alley, arcade, 18-hole mini golf course, billiard area, bar and restaurant, Rigby's Entertainment Complex is a fun haven for both kids and adults. The prices are reasonable, and the air conditioning is on, so Rigby's is a great place to go when the summer heats up.

Rigby's Entertainment Complex is located at 2001 Karl Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088.

Speaking of Rigby's, coming in 2019, is another place on our list…

Rigby's Water World

R igby's Water World opened in Warner Robins relatively recently in 2018. Similar to Rigby's Entertainment Complex, Rigby's Water World took an idea, and made it bigger. With a colorful maze of 16 water slides, walkways, and 40 water-play implements, Rigby's is expected to house the biggest water park structure in the world https://www.macon.com
The waterpark is a complex of water slides, lazy rivers, not-so-lazy rivers, pools, water playgrounds, pools for adults, waterfalls, and more.

The waterpark is currently 23 acres in size, but will be expanded in size each year until it reaches 90 acres in size.

Rigby's Water World is also located at 2001 Karl Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088.

Depot Row

Depot Row is home to the historic 1944 former train depot, the E.L. Greenway Welcome Center, which is now a historic site and museum. A great place for kids and railroad enthusiast, it's listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and is home to Mildred's Country Store, Elberta Train Depot, and the X556 Caboose.

Mildred's Country Store was built somewhere around the turn of the 20th century, was one of the first buildings ever built in Warner Robins, and is a museum of antiques from Warner Robins' earliest days.

The X556 Caboose was built in 1971 and is a working model and mini-museum of the role of the caboose car before the advent of electronics. Cabooses used to essentially house railroad crew and serve as monitoring and lookout posts for a higher view of the entire train. Before air brakes, a "flagman and brakeman were aboard in order to keep watch and warn the front of the train of 'hotboxes', or overheated wheels on cars," according to the Warner Robins Convention & Visitors Bureau website http://nebula.wsimg.com

The Elberta Train Depot, built around the time of the first World War, used to be a train depot (obviously), but has been under restoration as a transportation museum "tracing the railroad systems back to the days of Wellston and the role railroads played in the development of Robins Air Force Base and Warner Robins".

Depot Row is located at 99 N Armed Forces Blvd N, Warner Robins, GA 31093.

Monkey Joe's (Kids Only)

This one is for the kids (and parents looking to satisfy their kids' boredom in the summertime or fall/winter break). Monkey Joe's is a kids entertainment center complete with inflatable bounce houses, slides, obstacle course, climbing ropes, small carousel, full arcade, and party area. If you remember Discovery Zone, Monkey Joe's is similar to that, except with a mostly inflatable play area.

Monkey Joe's is a great place for younger kids (age 12 and under), especially for birthday parties. In the fall, Monkey Joe's often offers a "staycation" program for kids with mascots, carnival games, crafts, games and other "fun activities to keep the kiddos entertained" according to their website. It's a very popular place for kids – almost like a Rigby's for the younger crowd.

Monkey Joe's address is 4993 Russell Pkwy 370-410, 520-579, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
